With my tribe

Posted on: 31 March 2024

Autumn. Sierra de Grazelema, Cadiz

I belong to a tribe of eagles
All-seeing sky dwellers
Who swirl above lichen-encrusted crags
Gliding effortlessly
On unseen forces

This morning
With my sights fixed on fungal friends
The invisible thread that connects us
Lifted my heart skywards

Reminding me

To rise high above the precipice
Expand beyond the horizon
And feel the forgotten breath
Of my ancestors
Beneath my wings
As I fly.

With my tribe
